Q. When are Village Board Meetings held? A. Village Board Meetings are normally held on the first and third Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in Village Hall. Village Board Work Sessions are normally held the second Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. in Village Hall. From time to time Special Meetings. Click here for the most current agenda
Q. How do I get my water turned on or off? A. To begin or terminate water service, call the Village Hall at 592-6555. A quarterly bill is issued for water. Water bills may be paid at the Village Hall, or by mail. Water bills are due upon receipt.
Q. Even though I have an outside water meter reader, should my inside meter also be read?
A. While there is an outside reader which allows the meter to be read it is good practice to have your inside meter read at least once per year. This assures that the outside reader is operating properly. If it has been a period of time more that one year you should contact the
water department at 592-7770 and schedule an inside reading.
Q. When does the Village flush hydrants? or My water has suddenly become discolored? A. The Village of Elmsford Water Department flushes all fire hydrants once per year. This process removes iron deposits from the water mains and ensures that the hydrants are working correctly. The flushing may cause temporary water discoloration. Please check for discolored water before doing any laundry during the week the hydrants in your area are being flushed. When the Water Department undertakes these types of flushings notices advising of the schedule are posted door to door prior to the actual flushing taking place. Q. A Street light is out on my street who should I call? A. If you notice a burned out street light please note its location and call the Village of Elmsford Police Department at 592-8383 or you can reported via the web page.
Q. I am getting ready to do some home improvements, do I need a building permit? A. Building permits are required for all construction and home improvement projects, regardless of whether the work is completed by the homeowner or a contractor. Construction projects include, but are not limited to, additions, exterior repairs, demolitions, fences, swimming pools, driveways, sidewalks, patios, decks, sheds, central air conditioning, dog runs, and electrical revisions. Q. I am having a garage/yard/tag sale can I place signs on utility poles, public trees, public property, or street sign posts? A. No, signs are strictly prohibited on utility poles, public tress, public property and street sign posts.
